Bush Gum Blossoms Blog Tour

9efac19c-bgb-web-blog-tour-768x768  Hello there! Welcome to my stop on the Bush Gum Blossoms Blog Tour and thank you for stopping in. I am beyond honored to a member of this blog tour for Australian designer Amanda Brandl’s debut collection for Kennard and Kennard Fabrics.

Amanda’s Bush Gum Blossoms collection is a celebration of Australia in beautiful greens, pinks and yellows. I love these three colors together, and as soon as I saw her fabric, I had images of spring breezes, birds chirping, warmer weather and my two little girls planning and preparing for their absolute favorite activity…a tea party! The ideas immediately started coming to me!

I began with a tea mat and used a free pattern from Carried Away Quilting. I love all things that Taunja creates, and I always wanted to make one of her coffee mats! This was the perfect fabric for the “Coffee Time Quilt” pattern which you can find HERE. I paired Amanda’s fabric with Bella solid in Linen and used simple quilting to let the fabric be the “star of the show” as Taunja states in her tutorial.

Next, I made the tea pot cozy. I used a pattern by Susan Terpin I found on the Connecting Threads website. I also made little mug rugs for my girls using a pattern by Lisa Cox from A Spoonful of Sugar Designs. The paper pieced pattern is called “Heart of the Home Mini Quilt” but it also comes with directions to make adorable mug rugs!

I felt my girls needed a little lunch tote to store all of their play food and baked goods for their tea parties! I found the cutest little drawstring lunch tote in the Spring 2018 edition of Better Homes and Gardens Quilts and More magazine. The pattern is by Keiko Clark and it is called “Let’s Do Lunch”. It is the cutest little tote!

I added a tiny EPP “Gather” block designed by my friend Elise from Elise and Emelie to the main panel of the tote. You can find more information about her “Gather” block HERE.

Everyone needs a few extra friends for a tea party!!! I took a major sewing leap and sewed my first dolls for this epic tea party! I used the “Little Sister” pattern from Dolls and Daydreams.

I added little elastic skirts with some lace edging. Their favorite part of playing dolls right now is changing their clothes, so I figured these would be easy for my girls to get their interchangeable skirts off and on.

I ran out of yellow fabric, but that green print is my favorite one from the whole collection!

Here are a few pictures of my girls enjoying their Bush Gum Blossoms tea party!

I know that this little tea set is going to be something we take out to play with very often! And everything fits inside the lunch tote! Storage win!

Amanda also has another gorgeous collection called Taking Flight debuting along with Bush Gum Blossoms. You need to check out that collection as well! Here’s a little sneak peek:
