Quilter’s Cottage Weeks 4 and 5

Welcome to weeks 4 and 5 of The Quilter’s Cottage Sew Along with Fat Quarter Shop. I have never made a quilt with such HUGE blocks before and I have to admit…I am having so much fun! When I finished my Picket Fence block and started to lay all the blocks out, I realized we are so close to finishing this quilt top already! I can’t believe it!

For the Cobblestone block, there were some beautiful lighter beige prints from the Prim collection that I wanted to use for the stones, but I was afraid they wouldn’t contrast well with my background color (Riley Blake Confetti Cottons in Pewter). So, I picked some of the brown prints from the collection instead. I am excited to have a happy, little walkway to my pretty, pink house!

I was a little overwhelmed when I first looked at the directions for the Picket Fence block! There are so many pieces, but once I started to chain piece them, it seemed to go by really fast.

I’m looking forward to working on the “quilts” for the front of the cottage next! There are so many other beautiful colors in Lori Holt’s Prim collection, and I am hoping to incorporate them throughout these next three quilt blocks.

How is your Quilter’s Cottage Quilt coming along? If you haven’t started yet and would like to make one of your own, you can find the book available at Fat Quarter Shop at this link https://www.fatquartershop.com/quilter-s-cottage-book

Thank you for reading about my Cobblestone Block and Picket Fence Block. Please join me in two weeks to see the “quilts” that will hang out to dry in front of my Quilter’s Cottage 🙂
