Quilter’s Cottage Sew Along Week 9

My Quilter’s Cottage quilt top is complete! I love my little pink cottage with its beautiful cobblestone walkway, pretty flowers and quilts hanging out in front to dry. What a place this would be! I wish it was real and I could escape here from time to time.

This quilt top came together pretty quickly due to the large scale of the blocks in this quilt. It is so different from any other quilt I have made before and I really enjoyed the process of each piece coming together. It wasn’t just another block to add to the pile, but another addition of the cottage!

What a joy it was to sew with Lori Holt’s new Prim fabric! There is plenty left over from my fat quarter bundle to make another whole quilt top using Prim. I had a difficult time picking out a color for the clothesline posts. I wanted them to be grey, but there aren’t any grey tone prints in this collection. All the grey prints I pulled did not look right next to my background color. In the end, I used a wideback print from the Prim collection. This is what I am planning to use for the backing of this quilt. It has some grey in it, but I also felt that it stood out against the background with its white and pink lines.

Thank you for following along on my Quilter’s Cottage journey! Thank you to Fat Quarter Shop for hosting a really fun sew along and for including me! I really enjoyed putting this quilt together and I am also enjoying checking the hashtag to see all the other Quilter’s Cottage quilts. It is so interesting to see everyone put their own spin on their cottages.

Have a good weekend, everyone! I’m going to get my backing ready to send this quilt out to be quilted! It’s huge!!
