Happy Farm Girl Friday!!
I’m celebrating today with the Sisters Quilt Block in both the 6″ and 12″ format. I love a good barn star block and this block is so much fun to make! I will definitely be making more of these blocks. Obviously, I need to make one for my sister at some point!
I used Milk and Honey fabric (from Elea Lutz by Riley Blake) to make a springy pillow to use for our house. I cut out the cute chicks from the pink panel and used them as the center of the block. I added a few more inches of background border to make it into an 18″ pillow. The pink striped print from this collection made the perfect binding! I also found this gold swiss dot in my stash and it matched perfectly with this fabric collection and all the gold flecks in the fabric. Score from the stash!!
My daughter loves hanging out with me while I sew! Here she is helping me put the pillow form inside the pillow case and then holding it up to show it off. You can see my sewing mess in the background…sorry!
I also made a 6″ version of this block to go inside a Quilty Barn block for my dear friend Ann. Check out her IG feed (@thebobbinjar) for her progress on her barn quilt along with an amazing amount of inspiration!!
The Quilty Barn block is from Lori Holt’s first Farm Girl Vintage book and is another quilt on my some day wish list!!
I had the best intentions to sew along with The Fat Quarter Shop during their Farm Girl Vintage 2 Sew Along, but I was not able to keep up!! I’ve come to the conclusion that if I want to keep up with a Lori Holt sew along, I have to work on ONLY that project during that time or it is impossible for me to keep up! It’s so hard for me to work on only one project at a time! One day, I hope to have enough Farm Girl blocks to make a whole sampler quilt and I’d love to continue Farm Girl Friday’s even though the sew along has come to an end. Who’s with me?!?!?!
